Professor quits amid protests from angry dads

A Gothenburg University professor has quit her role on the board of the Swedish Brain Foundation (Hjärnfonden) after a petition was started by a group of fathers angry about claims she made about the bringing up of new born babies, reports the Gothenburg Post.

Annica Dahlström wrote a book in 2007 in which she claimed that mothers and not fathers were biologically better suited to bringing up new born babies. A follow up article in newspaper Aftonbladet the same year sparked anger among fathers who felt she had discriminated against them. The article began to circulate on the internet again, which culminated in a petition calling for Dahlström to quit her job on the board of the Swedish Brain Foundation.
