Ericsson jobs cuts could hit R&D

Swedish mobile phone manufacturer Ericsson announced plans on 7 November to cut 1,550 jobs in Sweden, which could affect its R&D operations.

R&D staff could be among those hit, the company said in a statement, as it tries to stay afloat following its divorce from Sony in February. Ericsson employs roughly 22,400 R&D employees worldwide. Of these 40 per cent are based in Sweden.
