Sweden assesses need for biobank structure

The Swedish Research Council (VR) and the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKL) have commissioned the BioBanking and Molecular Research Infrastructure of Sweden and the National Biobank Council to assess the conditions for joining up Sweden's biobanks in a single structure.

According to a statement published by the Karolinska Institute on 13 February, the work will include ensuring that Swedish resources are used for both long-term excellent research and high quality care.
