Cancer fund ups spending

The Swedish cancer fund Cancerfonden will give 355 million Swedish kronor (€40m) to research in 2014, an increase from kr339m in 2013.

First-time projects will receive kr132m, which is a kr3m increase from last year. The rest of the funds will go to research projects that Cancerfonden has previously supported. Most projects are for three-year periods.

“Thanks to donations from private persons and companies, we are able to finance 450 research projects during the year,” the head of the fund, Klas Kärre, said. “We are delighted that there are so many high-quality research projects from early career researchers.”
