Employers to pay less pension contribution for researchers

A proposal to reduce employers’ contributions to researchers' pensions is under consideration at the Swedish council for legislation.

The Swedish government suggests a 10 per cent decrease in the amount of money employers’ have to pay to contribute to the pensions of research staff. The aim of this reduction is to encourage companies to increase R&D investments and employ more scientists..

The proposal is primarily aimed at small businesses that struggle to pay for R&D.
