Sweden’s research council Vetenskapsrådet should strengthen its assessment criteria to promote gender quality in its evaluation process, a report has found.
Vetenskapsrådet conducted an assessment of the evaluation process from a gender perspective in 2014, and published its results in a report on 6 March.
The report found that some measures taken by the council, such as staff training to increase awareness of gender issues, have had positive effects. However, it identified that gaps in assessment criteria have “an adverse effect” on gender equality, and recommended that criteria should be altered to help women increase their success rate.
