Stockholm should prioritise its EU funding for regional competitiveness towards the natural and health sciences, a report assessing the region has found.
The report, Kartläggning av styrkeområden i Stockholmsregionen, which maps out the Stockholm region’s combined industry, talent and research strengths was conducted by the Nordic consultancy Damvad and published this month. The report was commissioned to feed into Stockholm’s smart specialisation strategy, which will determine how EU funding to increase R&D competitiveness is spent.
The report found that Stockholm has 97 areas of strengths, out of which 77 are found within health and the natural sciences.
