Pam Fredman, the rector of the University of Gothenburg, has been appointed president of the International Association of Universities.
Fredman was chosen to lead the association at its 15th general conference, held between 13 and 16 November at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. She will replace outgoing president Dzulkifli Abdul Razak from Malaysia, and her term will run from 2016 to 2020.
“I feel very honoured and look forward to working with higher education in an international perspective,” Fredman said. “IAU has an important role in gathering the world’s universities on the process of sustainable development, among other things.”
