Mixed response to Swedish bill

Unions and academics in Sweden have broadly welcomed the government’s 10-year plan for research, but have criticized its strategic direction.

The government presented its 2017 research bill to the Swedish parliament on 28 November. The bill outlines the government’s priorities for research policy for the next 10 years, focusing particularly on planned research programmes and funding between 2017 and 2020.
