Björn Nilsson has been appointed chairman of the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research.
Nilsson, who has been the chief executive of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences since 2008, will step into his role at the foundation at the end of the year, according to a press release published on 1 December.
He has a PhD in biochemistry from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, and has worked in several jobs for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
