Dutch Easac president starts term

Infectious disease researcher Jos van der Meer, emeritus professor at Radboud University in the Netherlands, is the next president of the European Academies Science Advisory Council.

He succeeds British biologist Brian Heap, who completed his three-year term earlier this month.

The announcement, made on 20 December, also names the next vice-presidents of Easac. They are József Pálinkás, head of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Martyn Poliakoff, foreign secretary of the UK’s Royal Society, Loucas Christophorou, member of the Academy of Athens and and Thierry Courvoisier, president of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences.
