Young academy clamps down in fraud case

The Young Academy of Europe has announced it is to revoke the membership of one of its participants, after the individual was found guilty of research misconduct.

The researcher, Pankaj Dhonukshe, who previously worked at the University of Utrecht, was found guilty of the fabrication of research data by the institution in February. In a statement on 2 March, the Young Academy says that it takes the matter “very seriously”.

“As an Academy we are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity,” says the YAE. As a result, the academy has terminated the membership of the individual, effective immediately, on the basis that it was “based on false or incomplete information”.
