EMBO aims to counter brain drain

The European Molecular Biology Organisation has awarded nine scientists with grants to set up their own laboratories in eastern and southern Europe.

The funding, given out under the 2015 round of EMBO’s Installation Grants, will assist with the scientists’ relocation costs. Four of the winners are moving to Turkey, two to Poland, two to Portugal and one to the Czech Republic.

The grantees were selected from institutes in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland and the United States, and will receive an annual payment of €50,000 for three to five years.
