The association of research funders and performers Science Europe has appointed Lidia Borrell-Damián, currently director for research and innovation at the European University Association, as its next secretary-general.
Science Europe’s governing board appointed Borrell-Damián at a meeting last week, the association announced on 24 June. Starting in September, she will succeed Stephan Kuster, who spent nine years in the role.
Borrell-Damián, who is a frequent contributor to European R&D policy debates in her present role, said in a statement that she was “honoured” to have been picked.
