Europe must do more for researchers at risk, study finds

Project stresses growing cohort of researchers in exile need dedicated EU funding

The EU should set up a fellowship scheme to support researchers who face threats to their life, liberty or career, a study of the support available in Europe for such researchers has recommended.

An initial finding of InspireEurope, an EU-funded project advising on provision of support to researchers at risk, is that there are many European initiatives providing help to such researchers, but that gaps exist—due mainly to insufficient funding.
