Governments back use of various EU funds for digital education

Digital education could be supported by programmes including EU’s Covid-19 recovery fund, governments agree

European governments should consider using a wide range of EU funding instruments to support digital teaching and learning in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, their representatives have agreed. 

A text signed off by the Council of the EU, which brings together national governments, on 24 November invites EU member states to consider investing in digital education through a €673-billion EU Covid-19 recovery fund, as well as 2021-27 EU programmes including Horizon Europe, which will fund R&D; Erasmus+, which funds academic mobility; and Digital Europe.
