Problem is ‘prevalent at all levels’ of higher education and research, EU advisers say
Not a single European country has done enough at national level to address gender-based violence and sexual harassment in higher education and research, which remains “prevalent at all levels… and in all disciplines”, a dedicated EU advisory group has concluded.
“Questions of gender-based violence in higher education have received very little attention both in terms of research and on the policy level in Europe,” the Standing Working Group on Gender in Research and Innovation of the European Research Area and Innovation Committee said in a report published on 2 June.
