European frameworks can be tweaked to help bitesize qualifications take off, according to project
The European Higher Education Area needs clear definitions and standards for micro-credentials—proof of learning from short courses—for such modular learning to meet its potential for education institutions and employers across the continent, a project has found.
An EU-funded study into micro-credentials, summarised by Elena Cirlan and Tia Loukkola in a 15 September report, found that a “lack of a clear definition and of standards” for the delivery, duration and assessment of courses “creates confusion among all concerned”.
