European universities pleased by EU-UK agreement

Associations welcome planned collaboration under Horizon Europe, but ‘deeply disappointed’ by lack of Erasmus+ agreement

The European University Association has welcomed the deal on EU-UK relations, expressing hope for continued cooperation between the two after the UK’s transition out of the bloc ended on 31 December.

On 24 December negotiators reached an eleventh-hour agreement for the post-transition period beginning on 1 January, which includes the option for the UK to become an associate member of the EU’s 2021-27 R&D programme, Horizon Europe.
