EU university innovation scheme praised, but deadlines a concern

Sector leaders hope scheme will open up European Institute of Innovation and Technology networks

The launch of a new funding scheme to support innovation in universities by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology has been welcomed by sector leaders, but they have also raised concerns over the deadline for the scheme’s first call.

The call, which launched on 24 March and closes on 25 May, will provide up to €1.2 million for each of 23 consortia, to boost innovation by encouraging institutional changes, strengthening industry links, developing support services and raising standards in entrepreneurial education.
