Leaders set out hopes for EU university transformation strategy

Digitisation, open science, gender equality and legal framework among hoped-for components

Politicians and university leaders have set out what they want from the EU strategy on transforming universities, which is due to be presented by the European Commission next year.

Speakers in a dedicated session at the Commission’s Research and Innovation Days conference on 24 June variously stressed the importance of digital transformation, open science, inclusive gender policies and a legal framework conducive to the cross-border sharing of knowledge to ensure that the bloc’s universities change with the times.
