‘Help colleagues under repressive regimes,’ EU officials suggest

Draft guidelines on foreign interference also recommend setting up university committees to investigate risky links

EU universities should work with partners in regions oppressed by authoritarian governments while managing the risks such connections bring, the European Commission has suggested—albeit behind closed doors for now.

The Commission made the suggestion in draft guidelines for tackling “foreign interference” in EU research and innovation, circulated for discussion with stakeholder institutions and seen by Research Professional News.
