EUA wants academia to ‘reclaim ownership’ of publishing

   

“Universal” open access named as one of three European University Association priorities for open science

Academia must “reclaim” its ownership of scholarly publishing from for-profit publishers in the transition to open access and open data, European university representatives have urged.

“Institutions and researchers have relinquished their rights to commercial publishers, and these publishers have made copyright their mainstay,” the European University Association said in an agenda for open science published on 3 February.
