Degree label and legal status for alliances “unlikely to solve all cooperation challenges”, says EUA

More analysis of universities’ needs is required for real benefits to be gained from EU trials of a European joint-degree ‘label’, experts have warned. They also urged further consideration of the national implications of proposals for a possible legal status for university alliances.

Problems with international recognition of qualifications and knock-on impacts on academic mobility have long plagued European universities, hampering cooperation between institutions and fuelling demands for a degree recognised across the EU.
