Better support sought for researchers with young children

European early career researcher group calls for action on parental leave and work-life balance

Europe should provide better support for researchers with children, a group representing early career researchers has stressed, expressing concerns about work-life balance and a disjointed patchwork of support.

“The academic environment has to shift towards an environment that treats researchers as full humans that are entitled to a life outside of research,” the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers, or Eurodoc, said on 8 March.
