‘Unquestioning’ collaboration stance must change, says Leru

University group warns of patchwork of policies on managing risks of international ties

Higher education institutions and the broader research sector need to change their previously “unquestioning” stance of unconditionally promoting international collaboration, a group of European universities has said.

The League of European Research Universities said on 16 May that although such ties can bring benefits, these opportunities need to be better balanced against the risks to research security and academic freedom.
