Markku Markkula
Markku Markkula is examining the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 proposal on behalf of the Committee of the Regions. He gives Tania Rabesandratana the regions’ lowdown on the Commission’s future science policy.
Markku Markkula wears many hats. In Finland, the former member of Parliament works as an adviser to the presidents of Aalto University, and serves as a member of the Espoo city council and the Helsinki-Uusimaa regional council. As a member of the EU’s 344-strong Committee of the Regions, he sits on its commission for education, culture and research and heads a task force for the Conservative European People’s Party on the Europe 2020 strategy.
