Low water mark

Researchers are planning to install a plaque to commemorate the first glacier in Iceland to have lost its status as a glacier. The plaque is due to be placed near where the ice mass—which ironically was nicknamed Ok, short for Okjökull—became little more than a puddle in 2014. It carries a message addressed to future generations, and implicates human-driven climate change and the inadequate reaction to it as the cause of the melt.
