More needs to be done to engage a critical public in science policy
Over the past decade, the European Commission has tried to become more transparent, more open and more accessible to the 450 million people under its umbrella. But this is still a work in progress, as evidenced by Brexit and the rise of anti-EU parties in France, Germany and the eastern states.
European politics still remain shrouded in jargon, and the process of developing and implementing legislation is little understood by those outside the Brussels bubble.
