Funders’ event at conference highlights the pandemic’s lessons for fighting climate change, says Eleanor Smith

Covid-19 began as a health crisis and ballooned into a catastrophe that affected everyone, regardless of whether they caught the virus. Similarly, climate change began as an environmental crisis but it is also about the economy, health, development, security and every other aspect of life.

So far, though, the story of climate change has been one of a surfeit of scientific evidence and a lack of political will. Are governments making the best use of scientific advice? And if not, how can this improve?
