Researchers must get used to proving their work’s positive outcomes

Archimedes is famously claimed to have said: “Give me a place to stand and I shall move the Earth.”

The Greek proto-scientist was, allegedly, talking about levers. But the quote also suggests he had grasped something many modern researchers struggle with: the importance of showing the impact of your work—especially to those paying for it.
