Horizon Europe budget fight undermines work on global challenges

The verdict delivered at a United Nations summit last month, that the world is “far off track” from its planned progress on major challenges such as climate change, poor health and poverty, is no surprise. 

In a year in which the effects of the climate crisis in particular became increasingly visible—including in the wildfires that hit southern Europe—the lack of urgency in translating global commitments on these issues into action has been equally stark.
