Waikato signs research deal with Scion

The University of Waikato has signed a memorandum of understanding with Scion, a state-owned Crown Research Institute (CRI), to collaborate on research and teaching.

The agreement includes joint research programmes, commercialisation of research, student projects and internships, the university said.

Areas of mutual interest include building the Māori economy, efficient resource use, engineering and application of biotechnologies.

Scion is one of eight CRI’s in New Zealand and works to improve the competitiveness of the New Zealand forest industry and to build a stronger bio-based economy.
