Call opens to host genomics research centre

The New Zealand government wants universities and research institutes to submit proposals for a $35 million advanced genomics research centre.

Announcing the initiative, science minister Steven Joyce said that genomics had become an increasingly important area of research in primary industry, health and environmental science.

“The government is reshaping its current genomics investment to a new cross-institutional research centre that will produce high quality research capability for the whole science sector,” Joyce said.
