Gambling addiction linked to venue design

Gaming venues are designed to promote “heavy and problematic” gambling by isolating players and discouraging social interaction, according to a University of Auckland study.

UA Centre for Addiction Research psychologist Peter Adams and community health researcher Janine Wiles studied the design and layout of gaming venues in New Zealand.

Their analysis is published online in the journal Health & Place.
