New Zealand’s leading researchers have received grants worth more than $65 million in the 2016 round of the Marsden Fund, announced by science minister Steven Joyce.
It is the biggest single funding round in the history of the competitive grants, which were set up in 1994 by the government to support excellence in research.
Joyce has announced funding for 117 research projects that range from the marine carbon cycle, volcanic eruptions and underwater landslides to youth justice and childhood perceptions of social conflict.
