New Zealanders want to make “green choices” but are frustrated by labelling rules that result in poor or misleading information on the environmental credentials of goods and services, according to a study by the University of Otago.
It found that 70 per cent of study participants wanted more detailed product-specific information to help them make decisions based on environmental ethics.
Only 3 per cent confirmed that they made purchases based on the sustainability of a product, including the ability to recycle packaging.
