New Zealand’s climate change minister, Paula Bennett, has announced a $400,000 scholarship programme for research to help the country’s farmers reduce greenhouse emissions from agriculture.
In a statement on 29 August, Bennett said the programme would support up to 40 researchers over three years, and aimed to build global expertise on climate change and food security.
“Finding new ways to reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions is crucial to meeting our ambitious 2030 Paris Agreement targets,” she said.
