Shaw urges climate action after ‘year of extremes’

New Zealand climate change minister James Shaw has stressed the critical role of research in setting national priorities for dealing with future climate risks.

Shaw said that NZ lacked “a coordinated plan” to deal with climate change despite data provided by scientists working with government agencies.

His comments follow publication of the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research annual climate summary on 8 January.
