Researchers call for New Zealand’s Performance-Based Research Fund to ‘be rethought from an Indigenous perspective’

New Zealand’s research funding systems are failing to address the particular needs and knowledge styles of Māori, a paper has said.

In an article published in Frontiers in Research Metrics and Analytics on 11 November,  two New Zealand researchers say that modern “performance-based” funding systems “reinforce the othering of Māori episteme”.
