University ‘could lose tens of millions’ over China travel ban

Auckland vice-chancellor says that three-quarters of institution’s Chinese students will be affected by the ban

New Zealand’s largest and highest-ranked university says it could lose “tens of millions of dollars” as a result of the government’s travel ban on Chinese visitors to control the risk of coronavirus.

University of Auckland vice-chancellor Stuart McCutcheon told local media that he was seeking assurances from the government about measures to minimise the economic impact.
