NZ launches algorithm charter for government use of data

Agencies commit to measures for safe and effective data use in research and policymaking

New Zealand’s government has introduced an algorithm charter that sets standards for the use of data collection by public agencies, including for research and policy information.

James Shaw, minister for statistics, said the charter aimed to give New Zealanders confidence that data were being used “safely and effectively” to inform policy decisions.
