Research crucial to carbon reduction plan, government says

   

New Zealand’s emissions plan develops with commitment to 2 per cent of GDP for research

The New Zealand government may create a greenhouse gas “roadmap” to help researchers and investors develop advanced technologies that will help the nation to meet its emissions targets.

In a consultation document issued ahead of a final emissions reduction plan due next year, the government says research will be crucial to bridging the gap between what is currently possible and the target of net zero emissions in 2050.
