New Zealand researchers hope to effect ‘real change’ with framework incorporating mātauranga Māori

The Cawthron Institute is developing a research framework with the aim of making its work more “equitable and just for Indigenous peoples who have been colonised”.

In an opinion piece published on the research institute’s website, Cawthron researchers Heni Unwin and Te Rerekohu Tuterangiwhiu say that science in New Zealand is not “culturally safe”.
