New Zealand’s development of blue carbon R&D is “in its infancy”

A report on the use of oceans to help fight global warming has said that “blue carbon research and project development activity in New Zealand is in its infancy”.

Much more needs to be done to take advantage of the potential of ocean-based technologies, according to the report from the Australia-based Blue Economy Cooperative Research Centre, published on 25 March. Auckland University of Technology is a member of the centre, and AUT professor Lindsey White is a deputy programme leader at the CRC.
