New Zealand institutions earn NZ$155m from commercialisation

                 

Food-science institute and Auckland university make the most from their research

New Zealand’s public research institutions earned at least NZ$155 million from the commercialisation of their research in 2022, a study has found.

The Australian-based Survey of Commercialisation Outcomes from Public Research report, released on 11 October, also identified 18 new spinout companies, in which those institutions held $NZ96m worth of equity. The institutions also earned about NZ$178m in income from research contracts, it said.
