New Zealand-wide higher education centre needs “to stay fit for purpose in today’s environment”

The running of a national centre for teaching excellence is being put out to tender as the Tertiary Education Commission seeks to “test the market”.

Massey University has run the National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence, under the name Ako Aotearoa, since 2006. On 10 March, the TEC, a government body that oversees higher education, announced that recent reforms of vocational education meant it was time for change. It is now seeking proposals from other tertiary education organisations to host the centre.
