Direct economic value of international education in New Zealand took NZ$2.9 billion hit

New Zealand’s international education sector was approaching NZ$4 billion a year in direct value to the economy when the pandemic began, a report has said.

An “impact valuation report” released on 13 April, carried out by the consultancy EY for the government international education agency Education New Zealand, found a “direct contribution” of NZ$3.7bn in 2019.
