University staff report feeling underpaid and hampered in their work
New Zealand’s Tertiary Education Union says its latest ‘state of the sector’ report shows academics are feeling undervalued.
The first part of the report, released on 26 April, showed that half of those surveyed were “very dissatisfied or dissatisfied” with their pay relative to the hours they worked and the work they were doing. Pay rises for many respondents were not keeping up with inflationary pressures.
