New Zealand to end gene technology ban

Legislation will be introduced to lift ban on using genetic technologies outside the lab

New Zealand is to end its ban on the use of genetic technologies outside laboratories, in a move welcomed by researchers and industry.

On 13 August, science minister Judith Collins promised to introduce legislation to end the ban, which is nearly 30 years old.
